Advert description
I am a qualified teacher with 18 years of experience in private and state school settings. My expertise is in Years 1-4. I have also have lots of tutoring experience tutoring students in a one to one setting.
I pride myself in providing personalised, creative and engaging lessons for students. My manner is positive and warm, I have high expectations and firm but fair boundaries that allow students to flourish.
Making sure that learning is meaningful and differentiated for each individual is a strength of mine. Differentiation is integral to my planning, whether by questioning, grouping, support, outcome, resources or type of activity. I always ensure that strategies are in place to provide for different learning styles, using a range of techniques and resources. I carry out careful monitoring and assessment ensures identification of children’s difficulties or areas in which they are gifted and talented, so that they can be planned for appropriately, in order to develop and extend their learning.
Assessment is used as a tool for raising and maintaining standards and I carefully monitor pupil progress and adjust provision to meet the needs of my pupil. I carry out ongoing formative assessment, which feeds directly into planning lessons. I like to ensure children are engaged in the assessment process by agreeing and identifying success criteria and carrying out self –evaluation in a variety of ways. This enables them to see themselves as learners, recognise their achievements and know where they need to go next.
I am based near Guildford and I am looking for tutoring work on Saturdays or Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings.
