I have almost thirty years of experience in Modern Languages (ML), working as a teacher, Head of Department, coach, workshop leader (IB), and researcher. I have twenty years of experience working internationally (Argentina, USA, UK, Spain, and Qatar). I am used to working in very diverse international environments where staff and students came from all sorts of backgrounds and cultures. I also have experience in the American and British systems, and more than fifteen years of experience within the IB framework as a teacher, School Accreditation Visitor, Consultant, Reader, and Workshop Leader for Spanish and TOK.
As a ML professional, I pride myself on delivering high-quality work and on guiding and empowering others to do the same. I have vast experience designing and delivering curriculum that is both enjoyable and challenging. As a leader, I have overseen the development, implementation and review of the ML curriculum ensuring there was alignment in curriculum, pedagogy, and practice across different levels. As Head of Department and IB Workshop Leader I have led workshops for development and implementation of innovative pedagogical practices where participants worked collaboratively.
I am a detail and goal-oriented individual who strives to deliver high-quality work by setting clear and carefully-thought goals well in advance. I try hard to reach those goals and I collect and analyze data leading to future improvement. As a leader and team worker, I ensure others have all the means to comply and succeed at what they do. As a researcher, I have experience collecting and analyzing data to raise staff performance and student progress. I also have a passion for turning innovative research-based ideas into everyday practices. Also, as an active researcher and as a manuscript reviewer for both the European Journal of Computer-Assisted Language Learning (Cambridge University Press) and IAFOR, I stay current with new Language trends to continue to learn and to have the capacity to guide others.
On a day-to-day basis, I have conducted classroom observations, I have managed assessments (guidance, development, proctoring, data collection, etc.), I have represented Language faculty in meetings, I have recognized staff’s needs, and led staff development.
