Learn the native Cantonese that wildly used in Hong Kong, Macau, Southern Part of Mainland China

In mainland China, 'putonghua' (a simple translation of this term means: common/ordinary spoken language)is the only official language. In Taiwan, it is called Mandarin; both are similar in the sound (pronunciation) but the characters are different, not mentioned of their way in written language. BUT, Cantonese is the second or third most people used language in Chinese (Asian-Chinese).

Cantonese is an official language used in Hong Kong and Macau, also it is wildly used in some Asian countries like Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, etc.

Despite of the pronunciation is different from 'potonghua' or Mandarin, the written language is also quite different too. It means, even if you are familiar with the previous one, you will still lost in Cantonese environment. The good news is if you know Mandarin, then both the characters used are same: traditional Chinese characters. But for 'potonghua', it will take some time to recognise the characters since it used so-called simplified Chinese characters.

The beauty of Cantonese is not because of its popularity alone but its vibrant and vivid nature in expression, particularly in verbal communication. Cantonese is now seldomly used in written (will used it together with 'standard' Chinese) but oral communication.
