Art tutor for all levels and ages!

Advert description
Sarah Catterall is an artist and filmmaker from Sheffield (UK) and Seattle, WA (USA). They graduated with a BFA in Fine Art from The Ruskin School of Art (Oxford University) in 2023. They are open to working with anyone who is interested in feedback on their practice, art school preparation and portfolio, and running private or group tuition.

As a tutor, they encourage students to interface with the world on a deeper level through a passion-led understanding of the conceptual and practical elements of art. What is it about art that drives you? What does practicing art mean to you?

As an artist themselves, they can speak to the practical skills which can supplement the study of contemporary art theory. Their visual language collages a variety of mediums such as printmaking, painting, frottage, automatic writing, drawing from observation, textiles and photography.

They are also able to help with writing about your art and finding your voice. During their undergraduate, they wrote several essays on contemporary art theory and underwent original art history and theory research for my dissertation titled, “Letters to ‘Self’: Legacy, Heterochrony and Practice”. They lectured on this research recently at the Oxford Undergraduate Humanities Conference where they taught on authorship and their writing style as an integral part of their practice. What is it about who you are that makes your perspective of contemporary art valuable?

In 2023, Sarah was selected from their graduating cohort to have a public-facing exhibition through Modern Art Oxford from the 19-29th October. In addition to their exhibition, they are developing three workshops with other artists and biologists which aim to open up conversation between participants around themes of identity, the natural world and archival practices.

Whether is it studying for school or personal growth, Sarah can help you set goals and achieve them with their tailored and considered tuition. Let's get started!
