Personal Statement Reviews or Workshops; LNAT Preparation

Myself and My Experience in Tutoring: I am a second-year undergraduate at the University of Oxford, reading Law. I have extensive tutoring experience (I have been tutoring for the past 4 years almost continuously), having tutored in three different capacities (online for students preparing for the 11+ at Edumentors, in-person for students preparing for GCSEs and A-levels, and in a review and editing capacities for personal statements).

My Knowledge in the Sector: I attended several conferences and workshops when I myself was writing my personal statement, and had mine reviewed by a plethora of different people (current Oxford students, university admissions staff, teachers at school). From this, I have amassed a wealth of knowledge about what makes a good personal statement and how to present yourself and your experiences in a manner most attractive to universities, irrespective of subject. Likewise as regards the LNAT, I attended a summer school and used a wide range of preparatory books and sites back when I took my LNAT.

How I can help: the standard guidance given to students on how to approach personal statement writing can vary extraordinarily. I can either: review a draft of a personal statement, providing extensive commentary down to word-level, as well as broader analysis for each question, and a holistic review of what has been done well, and what needs improvement overall; OR I can have a session with the student, where we can go over their personal statement, as well as make comparisons to exemplary works and answer any questions or concerns the student has regarding what they need to do.

My Accreditation: I myself received all 5 offers from the universities I applied for (Oxford, UCL, Bristol, Leeds, and Warwick), and all of those whose personal statements I have reviewed have received offers from their university of choice (LSE, Exeter, Durham etc). As regards the grades that I applied with, I received 11 9s at GCSE and was predicted 4 A*s at A-level - HOWEVER, I have tutored students of a wide range of grades and levels.
