I am a highly experienced teacher of English that has taught at every level to every kind of student.

I was educated at London and Oxford Universities. I have four postgraduate qualifications in Philosophy, Film Studies and English, two of them are Masters degrees. I have taught at universities in London, the Henley College and the British Council in Madrid. I qualified as a teacher in 1991.
Successful teaching is a question of mutual respect. Whatever level I am teaching at, I believe the learner should be guided through the inquiry by the Socratic Method of directed questioning prompted by the student's response. In this way we can understand together that education is a collaborative and mutually enlightening process. One must know when to intervene but also when to allow those you are responsible for to exert their autonomy. Placing trust in the abilities of the learners is the most effective way to get the best out of them.
