Tutor providing all kinds of lessons for elementary school children

I completely understand that children have various ways of learning best. I understand that children have days that they want to learn and days that they don't want to do much. One of the most important things to remember as a teacher is that students are people, not robots who are simply supposed to remember everything that you tell them. My first session will be primarily to meet the student and discuss the subject that we are going to be covering; I want to be able to learn about them before they start learning about the subject. In our future sessions, I will have a 5-10 minute meeting in which we talk about what we learned at the last meeting, what we struggled with learning about, what we liked, what we weren't so fond of, etc. As this goes on, I will take notes about both the student as well as new ways or ideas to teach them. My main goal is to keep their interest in the subject perked, so do not be surprised if I spend an hour online finding out different things that seem to be directed precisely at them. Once again, all students are different. I want to see their strengths, see their weakness, and form a lesson plan that works just for them.
