Lessons begin with a review of previous content for retention and recall of knowledge that students should know for the lesson and help practice revision of English as a subject as a whole. Then, the lesson begins with a short modelling of a topic or question that may come up in an examination or assessment and teacher explains the thinking behind answering the question so that the student can understand can achieve the best outcomes. Then, the teacher shows the student a new topic and explains how to go through the terminology and phrases in a general format so that the student can understand the scope of the topic and ask any questions. The new topic is then built upon with an enquiry into how the topic fits into the the subject of English as a whole and how the topic is compared to another topic, using knowledge that the student is familiar with. The lesson then finishes on independent practice by the student where the teacher is able to observe and correct the student where needed but this practice is similar to an assessment or examination in that the student completes most of this task or worksheet. The lessone ends on a short review of the new learning in the topic which will then be reviewed at the beginning of the next lesson so that the student can revise the subject of English.
