I am a private tutor with an A* in A-level Maths and a degree in Biomedical Sciences. I have 4 years' experience tutoring both in the UK and at international schools, boosting students' grades by up to 2 levels. I can provide in-person tutoring in Nottingham or virtual sessions suited to the individual's preferences and learning style. In general, my teaching style involves planning around weak areas and layering learning to achieve a thorough and integrated knowledge of biology

Whilst attending university, I tutored 5 students in Maths- ranging from Year 7 to Year 11. Following the completion of my Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences in July 2024, I spent one year teaching and tutoring both in the UK and internationally in Luanda, Angola. Of the 8 students I have tutored in maths, all who have followed my advice and tutoring regime have boosted their grades by up to 2 levels.

My first session is free of charge and includes a detailed discussion with the student on their weaknesses, how they best learn and what their ideal goals are. Typically, I back this up with previous exam results (if available to the student). From this I generate a learning plan to consolidate any weaker areas, whilst maintaining the knowledge in stronger areas.

A typical session begins with exam-style questions to consolidate learning from the previous session/topic covered. At first a team effort to answer the question in employed, with the aim to gradually generate independence and confidence in answering all relevant styles of exam questions. Following this, we discuss the focus topic for the session. I employ a combination of visual, auditory and kinaesthetic learning to ensure a deep understanding of each topic covered. For the end of the session, we recap what has been covered and how it links to other topics covered. Finally, I provide any recommendations of additional learning or preparation to complete before the next session.

Each session runs for approx. 1 hour, with the option to book blocks of multiple sessions for a discount (see above). My experience shows that 1 hour per week is sufficient for Year 7/8, increasing to 2 hours per week for years 9/10/11.
