I have experience as a SEND TA for Y7-Y11 secondary school students, and so I have a bank of knowledge on both alternative and traditional methods of helping pupils to understand and progress within their GCSEs. I completed my A levels in Chemistry, Biology and English Literature last year, and have 10 GCSEs at grade 6 and above as well, so I have a great understanding of the current specifications for exam boards.

My strongest subjects are English, Chemistry and Biology, due to my added qualifications in these subjects but I’m happy to lend a hand in others too.

I will always ask a student what they feel they would like help with first before making a plan for how the sessions will unfold. I can then find any resources and examples that might help students develop their understanding. If I find any gaps in knowledge during the sessions, I will ensure that I adjust the plan accordingly to cover these topics in future sessions.

Generally, I follow the method of securing the understanding of the content first, then tackling exam questions and techniques afterwards. Once we’ve covered the topics a student feels less confident on, doing past papers and going through the answers would be my next suggestion. Whilst incorporating good exam technique and productive revision, to ensure the student understands not just the subject, but the way it is going to be assessed. However, if this is not your style I’m happy to adapt to your preferred learning methods, or focus specifically on a certain topic.

I hope we can work together to give you confidence in your abilities in all subjects, and help you to smash your targets!
