Advert description
Throughout my teaching experience at UEA and Anglia Ruskin University, I have had several one on one learning sessions with students in order to develop their academic writing and reasoning skills. I have always seen an improvement in academic performance and I am particularly proud to have seen an improvement from an average of 2.2 in year 1 to a first in year 3 on one occasion. I have come to understand that the key to improving academic ability also lies outside of the classroom and developing trust and openness is a key element of success.
A key element of my teaching philosophy has been to place emphasis on establishing a vibrant and mutually supportive group dynamic. Group work on projects and peer to peer assessment has been a good way to develop not only trust and cooperation, but also create a certain ‘team spirit’ that makes learning a social experience while still retaining the importance of individualized coaching.
