Advert description
I am an experienced GCSE and A level science tutor with over 15 yeas of tutoring experience and 10 years experience working in schools. I am currently a regional lead practitioner for a large multi academy trust; in this role I suppose the improvement of teaching in a number of schools across East Anglia and London. A large part of my role is supporting heads of science in ensuring that their department is building strong subject knowledge, confidence and exam technique.
I have a depth of knowledge of GCSE combined science and separate sciences (triple science) that I have gained from my current role, as well as being an examiner for AQA and Edexcel for the last 5 years. This experience, alongside my current role, mean that I have extensive insight into how the exams are built, the topics that are likely to come up and how best to answer to optimise marks.
My tutoring sessions are online, which allows for efficient use of time for both myself and those that I tutor. It ensures that students always feel comfortable, as they can pick an environment that makes them feel most comfortable and prevents anybody from having to travel a distance. It also allows for me to tutor a student in any part of the country.
I try to take a holistic approach to tutoring students, ensuring that we develop a rapport during the sessions. This approach allows me to develop an understanding of the best ways in which a student will learn, so that our sessions can be as effective as possible.
As both a tutor and a senior science leader, I am skilled at identifying gaps in understanding, supporting students who lack confidence and stretching those that are aiming for the top grades. Whether a student needs help consolidating core knowledge, improving exam technique or really stretching to ensure that they can access the hardest questions, my approach is calm, supportive and evidence informed.
