Advert description
I am a highly experienced and qualified teacher offering private maths tuition for pupils preparing for Key Stage 2 SATs and GCSE Foundation level examinations. I bring extensive classroom and leadership experience across both mainstream and special education, with a strong track record of improving outcomes for learners with a wide range of needs.
Currently, I work as a mathematics teacher in a specialist setting, supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, moderate learning difficulties and Down’s Syndrome. This experience has strengthened my ability to break learning down into clear, manageable steps and to adapt teaching so that every learner can succeed.
I have also held headship and senior leadership roles, supported schools through inspection, and worked as a School Improvement Partner, giving me a deep understanding of curriculum expectations, assessment frameworks, and how pupils are judged against national standards—particularly important for SATs and GCSE preparation.
My teaching style is calm, structured and confidence-building. I focus on developing secure number sense, problem-solving skills and exam readiness, while reducing anxiety around maths. Lessons are carefully tailored to each pupil’s starting point, learning style and pace.
In addition to maths, I hold a degree in English Literature, which supports pupils with:
Mathematical vocabulary and reasoning
Reading and understanding word problems
Clear written explanations and exam technique
What I Offer:
KS2 SATs maths preparation
GCSE Foundation maths support
Confidence building and gap-filling
SEND-informed, personalised teaching
Clear feedback for parents and carers
I am passionate about helping pupils feel successful in maths, often after experiencing frustration or low confidence. My aim is not just to improve results, but to help learners believe they can do maths.
