Advert description
I am a Primary School Teacher based in Newcastle, currently working as a supply teacher across a range of local schools. I have taught all year groups from Year 1 to Year 6 and have experience working in a wide variety of settings, which has helped me develop a flexible teaching style rooted in what genuinely works for children.
Last year, I taught a Year 4 class at Bridgewater Primary School, including preparing pupils for formal assessments such as the Multiplication Tables Check. I was incredibly proud of how well the whole class performed.
I qualified with distinction in 2023, and prior to this, worked for several years as a Teaching Assistant in a secondary school. During this time, I supported pupils across a range of year groups, particularly those with SEND and SEMH needs, in core subjects including English, Maths and Science, up to GCSE and A Level. This experience has given me a strong understanding of the barriers some learners face and how to support them effectively. I strongly believe in being “the advantage to the disadvantaged” and prioritise equity, inclusion and transparency in my teaching.
I place great importance on pupils’ mental health and wellbeing, creating a supportive and trusting environment where children feel safe to make mistakes, build confidence and develop a genuine curiosity for learning. I aim to break down the “how” and “why” of topics so pupils can truly understand their learning, rather than simply memorising facts.
Before working in education, I gained a Bachelor’s degree in Product Design from Central Saint Martins and worked in a pottery studio in the North East. My background in Art and Design remains a key passion and continues to shape my approach to teaching.
Overall, my experience spans the full educational journey — from delivering phonics in Year 1 to supporting students in GCSE and A Level examinations. I offer a flexible, inclusive tutoring approach and am confident in supporting a range of subjects, including English, Maths, Science, and Art and Design.
Thank you for considering me as your tutor.
