German Tutor with C1 Qualification for Students up to A-Level ( Trial Lesson)

Advert description
I have been learning German for over 5 years and have achieved an A* at A-Level as well as an average score of 199.5/214 on my telc C1 Hochschule exam.

I find language learning to be an enriching, rewarding, and (importantly) enjoyable experience, and this enthusiasm would inform my teaching process.

My Experience of Learning German
I would say the decision to take my progress in the language seriously came as a result of an exchange I took part in in 2023 during which I met and became good friends with my exchange partner Elias. This gave me my first impressions of Germany as a country as well as its culture and language as it is used on a day to day basis. This trip also inspired me to consider studying at University in Germany, and I have since decided to do a BSc in Transport Engineering at the RWTH University in Aachen starting in September this year. All of these opportunities have really brought the German language to life for me and I hope to be able to convey that to anyone else who is considering, or is in the process of, learning it as well.

Teaching Style
There are certain principles which I find particularly useful in learning a language. Firstly, it is important to make the lessons relevant to the day to day language used by natives. Obviously this can only happen to an extent if you're working to a GCSE or A-Level specification, however in my experience, going slightly beyond the syllabus both makes the exams easier and helps the student stand out in terms of their written and spoken production. Secondly, the learning process is made a lot easier by finding a way of practising and using the language that the student enjoys. This could mean learning about another interest or listening to music or podcasts in the target language. Any exposure is good exposure. Thirdly I put an emphasis on practising conversational skills, in particular speaking, which can often be quite daunting for language learners, but becomes much easier and more rewarding with practice. The caveat to all of this is that each student has a different learning style and I'm very happy to accommodate for this.

So, if you're preparing for a German GCSE or A-Level, or if you're just wanting to pick it up for fun, send me a message and I'd be happy to arrange a trial lesson.
