What to expect in lessons?
My priority in lessons is addressing what you are struggling with. I use a range of different resources in alignment with the specific exam board and activities to target the learning you need and cater to the age I am teaching. Nearer an exam I will use practice questions but before that, I try to use more engaging techniques so the lesson doesn't drag by and I can build a better relationship with my students. I have worked closely with many secondary school students who have lost motivation in the subject and I make it my objective to help them begin to enjoy the subject again.
Teaching experience
Music theory (grades 1-5) and beginner piano for two years
Academic GCSE music for a year
Background
I am a Newcastle University Music Student (BMus) and I have played piano since age 5. I also play violin in Orchestra North East and sing in choirs. Despite being currently located in the northeast, I am originally from Leeds. Throughout my time in sixth form, I taught beginner piano and music theory (grades 1-5) to younger students and since being at University I have tutored academic music online. I am a bubbly relaxed individual who is very friendly, especially for shy children as I have worked with children with autism before who struggled with confidence. However, I am focused enough to help achieve the grade my student is aiming to attain.
