The format I use during my lessons is a very systematic one. I usually begin with a short activity or quiz which makes the child interested and then dive into the topic. This activity is then followed by a short explanation of concepts and introduction to the formulae after which I solve two sums with the children to ensure that they have learnt how to apply the concept. This is followed by solving of more practice sums and in the end there is a short evaluation conducted to gauge how much the child has understood. I try to simplify the content as much as possible and conduct activities in a manner which caters to all the different types of learners present in the classroom.
I have been teaching children since the past three years and I believe it is extremely important to keep the children active learners and not just passive receiver's of information. The more they construct knowledge by themselves the better they will retain it and be able to apply it to other problems as well as their day to day lives
