University of Bristol graduate with experience teaching secondary school maths, offering tutoring for all secondary school maths

Advert description
I am a University of Bristol graduate with a degree in Accounting & Finance. I have spent 3 years working in accounting, have also had experience training as a secondary school maths teacher, and have had experience working as a teaching assistant. During this time, I have gained plenty of experience teaching individual students, particularly those who have needed additional support or who have been more challenging to teach.

I have always had a passion for mathematics, attaining an A* at A level, and I enjoy teaching students one to one.

My approach to tutoring is centered around two things:

1. Tutoring is about the student: I tailor everything to the personality of the student. Everything I do, from how I explain concepts and methods, to how I help them manage their focus and motivation, is geared towards how they think and what their personality is like. In addition to this, I work to get as much out of the one-to-one session as possible, helping them identify and work on subject areas they need help with, and giving them confidence in their abilities and knowledge of the subject.

2. Making mathematical understanding and question practice as exam-relevant as possible. There is a large amount of scientific evidence that this hugely improves both exam results and general understanding of the topic. There are many benefits to this approach, but most importantly, it gives students the confidence from the get-go that they can successfully tackle exam questions and apply their knowledge, so that when exam time rolls around, they are fully prepared and confident.

The core of this whole approach is to fully meet individual students' needs, and to give them the confidence they need in their abilities.
