Advert description
I love teaching and I am very passionate about impacting knowledge. I teach by establishing trust with my students incorporating benevolence, integrity, competency, and consistency into my teaching techniques to create a positive learning environment.

After teaching students from various backgrounds at different levels of education including secondary and tertiary, I am convinced that showing interest in students individually, showing appreciation, sharing responsibilities fairly, listening attentively to each student, and answering the questions they might have largely buffers their interest to learn especially with subjects like mathematics.

I believe that the combination of explicit instructions, cooperative learning, visual strategies, hands-on learning, scaffold learning and strategic questioning amount to the best strategy to employ when teaching maths. In my previous maths teaching role, I tried to know every student's name and a little more about them including their strengths and limitations to enhance active participation with the students.

In my private maths tutoring roles, I related maths lessons to household works to enhance a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts and principles. I also researched for and engaged students with maths-oriented games to make the class more fun and interactive. I use pictures to teach and encourage my students to make math flashcards just so they can recollect information. I always teach students that there is usually more than one way to solve a math problem and I employ a step-by-step approach to teaching so they can appreciate math as an enjoyable process and not just a means to an answer. For students who struggle with math, I start with simple abacus learning as that can reinforce the foundational knowledge they already have before moving on to more complex math topics.

Conclusively, I try to assess the math ability of each student to map out my teaching techniques and to figure out the areas that require more attention.
