Teaching is an Art and involve psychology, trust etc., these kind of things.
It is a teacher or tutor's role to arouse student's interest. I would need to understand their needs or weakness and the reason behind why they need to be strengthened. Patience and love are the most important factors. Sometimes student cannot build up his/her mind set or concept, I would go into their mind and help them step by step to break through the difficulties.
Once they have a little success or progress, keep on motivation and they would feel you are their supporter and booster. If they trust you, then everything would be easier. Improved performance can be expected.
