Advert description
Hello students!
My name is Valentina Calcagni, and I am currently studying for a BSc in Psychology at the University of Manchester. I believe I am an excellent fit for the English tuition role. As a native English speaker with top grades in English Literature at A-level and all 8s and 9s at GCSE, I have a robust academic skill set. My degree requires me to produce high-level academic writing to a pristine standard, which has strengthened my precision, clarity, and ability to explain complex ideas, and has set me on track to achieve a first-class degree.
I have completed teaching training with Tutor Trust UK, where I learned to adapt lesson plans to different learning styles and create interactive activities that make learning engaging and accessible. I also apply psychological principles from my degree to ensure lessons are individualised, memorable, and effective. For example, I often use Tiered Instruction—a technique that breaks down tasks into progressively challenging steps based on a student’s confidence and skill level. This is just one of many evidence-based learning approaches I integrate to keep lessons innovative and impactful.
If you are seeking an energetic and innovative tutor, and I bring both in abundance. My experience in leadership, public speaking, and customer-facing roles has built my confidence, adaptability, and interpersonal skills. For example, while stewarding at the Commonwealth Games at the NEC, Birmingham, I learned to maintain a positive and effectively communicate in high-pressure environments. I plan to channel these skills to create a supportive and inspiring learning environment. As a Psychology student, I am deeply passionate about building strong rapport with students, using empathetic listening and encouragement to unlock their academic potential.
I am confident that my skills, energy, and innovative evidence-bases approach mean our lessons will be both fun and productive.
See you soon!
Valentina
