Maths tutoring for GCSE students

Hello, my name is Emily and I have just completed my A levels. I studied A levels and GCSEs (results range from 7-9), so I am very familiar with the curriculum and many exam boards such as Edexcel and AQA. I am now taking a gap year and would like to help you with your studies. I began tutoring professionally last year, but I’ve been tutoring my younger sibling for a few years now. I am a very calm and patient tutor. For the first lesson, I will get to know you and your academic grades. After that, I will tailor lessons on topics that you struggle with, I will provide worksheets every lesson. Firstly, I will complete one or two questions to demonstrate how it’s done (example questions) then you will attempt the next question on your own to see if you understand. However, if you do not, then I will provide prompts or suggest you look back at the example questions. But if you’re completely stuck, I will simply go through the question with you to make sure you understand. This will allow you to develop independence and confidence when solving problems. Each week, you will be set homework that must be complete before the next lesson, so I have time to mark it. Every now and then, I will give past papers or mini assessments to test your general understanding. Once this assessment has been complete, I will go through the whole paper during a lesson and demonstrate how I would answer each question to achieve full marks, at this stage you will be able to see any areas that went wrong and are able to actively ask questions. For younger students (primary school), I will provide more workbook questions, which are more colourful and engaging.
