A-level Economics Tutor with an A* in A-level economics

Advert description
Hi! I'm Ishen, and I'm a BSc Economics student at the University of Manchester, and I tutor Maths (primary, secondary and GCSE) and Economics (A-level). I received an A* in A-level Economics (with a strength in macroeconomics – 93% in paper 2) and an A in A-level Maths. I genuinely enjoy helping students get to grips with subjects that can feel overwhelming at first, and my experience as a junior cricket coach has given me a real ability to connect with young people and adapt to how they learn best.

Coaching taught me that people respond so much better when they feel supported and engaged rather than just talked at, and that's something I carry into every tutoring session. No two students are the same, so no two lesson plans are either. I take the time to understand where each student is struggling and why, and I build lessons around that rather than following a rigid structure. Whether you're trying to get a handle on the basics or pushing for a top grade, I'll tailor sessions to what you actually need.

I always try to make lessons feel different from being in a classroom. More relaxed, more personal, and focused entirely on you. For Economics, that means bringing in real-world examples to make theory feel relevant. For Maths, it means making sure you properly understand the concepts as well as memorising methods. The aim is for you to leave each session feeling more confident, not more stressed.

For Economics, lessons tend to be more discussion based. I'll introduce a topic or concept, then link it to something happening in the real world to make it stick. I'm particularly strong in Macroeconomics, so whether it's monetary policy, fiscal policy or international trade, I can break it down in a way that actually makes sense. We'll also work on essay structure and evaluation skills, which is where a lot of A-level students pick up or lose marks.

If that sounds like what you're looking for, feel free to get in touch!

Ishen has been absolutely incredible in teaching me GCSE Maths and Economics. He is very effective at explaining mathematical concepts and economics content. My GCSE exams went very well because of his help and I expect to achieve high grades in August. I would highly recommend anyone struggling with maths and economics to seek his support.
