I would like to make lessons fun and engaging to students.
I will use different approach to meet individual needs for example if a student is a visual learner I will use more pictures.
I use the learning through problem solving technique and that is to give students questions and activity sheets so they can engage their brain.
I have 2 years of face to face voluntary tutoring year 7 and 8 students.
I also worked as an assistant teacher with a teaching agency in many special education needs schools with different age groups.
Within this role I utilised my knowledge of learning support, communication skills and creativity to develop a varied approach helping pupils with Special Education Needs and Disabilities understand the information presented and support them throughout their education. During this placement I worked closely with individuals exhibiting challenging behaviours, my communication skills excelled during this time as I frequently engaged in verbal de-escalation. I worked with adults whereby students had autism, learning disability, down syndrome undiagnosed mental illnesses.
I used my passion for inspiring children to enjoy learning, encourage them to take pride in their achievements, be confident in their abilities and play an active role in school life. During this role I supervised pupil with SEND ensured their safety and ability to access learning activities and understand the information presented to them. I built a trusting relationship with all pupils and communicated according to their level of understanding.
Promoted inclusion and acceptance, supported diversity, and ensured people have access to learning and development. Promoted class interaction and ensured pupils engage throughout the lessons. Provided opportunity for developing independence, promoted good behaviour, and encouraged pupils to take accountability for their actions. Supported pupils with computer technology to access learning activities and assist them to develop competent usage. I have always followed child protection, health, safety, security, confidentiality and data protection policies and procedures and reporting any concerns to the appropriate person. Accompanied teaching staff and pupils on school trips and after school activities, taking responsibility for a group of pupils under the teacher’s supervision when needed.
Assisted with supervision of pupils alongside other support staff during a class teacher’s absence.
