Advert description
As a child, I was identified as Gifted & Talented in kindergarten, diagnosed with dyspraxia at 11, and eventually diagnosed with and treated for ADHD in adulthood, meaning I have a deep understanding of what it is like to go through school with both high expectations and absent support. I was helped by an amazing counsellor who helped me with the pressures of exams, social estrangement and growing up, even when my struggles seemed to make no sense to any of the other adults around me. I'm interested in this role in order to give back to the world what that counsellor gave to me.
Over sessions with me, I will listen without judgement, asking questions that aid self-discovery and understanding of how to overcome the challenges of ADHD and to accept one's self. I offer CBT-informed techniques such as goal setting and habit tracking, but with an understanding that being pressured to do more paperwork is not something most ADHD people are seeking. My main goal is to foster the self-acceptance and self-recognition that is necessary before change is possible - holding a nurturing, understanding and honest space in which my client can make the correct decisions for themselves using their own free will and unique brilliance.
