Hi, I’m Andrea, a Mum of four children (2 girls and 2 boys), well, I think they’d prefer to be called young people now as they’re all over 18! I worked in primary schools for over 20 years as both a classroom teacher and 1:1 support teacher. I worked in Further and Higher Education within Inclusive Learning Departments supporting students with their individual physical and emotional needs. Around the time of Covid 19, I experienced extreme anxiety, stress, grief and overwhelm relating to big life events: the sudden end of my 24 year marriage and the death of both my parents. It was these events that prompted me to leave the education system and re-train as a mental health and emotional well-being practitioner working firstly for Barnardos and most recently the NHS. During the course, I learned healthy coping skills, supportive strategies and useful techniques that helped me personally as well as my clients. My mission now is to share not only these scientifically proven therapeutic tools and techniques but also the lessons I’ve learned from my personal life experiences so that when life events happen my students can surf the waves without being swept away by them, as I nearly was.
