Advert description
I teach GCSE and A-level Maths, including Further Maths. I sat both at A-level and got A* in each, and I now study Politics and Economics at LSE.
Most students I have helped were not actually stuck on the topic they thought they were. Usually something from earlier had not quite landed, and the current chapter was sitting on top of it. So a first session with me is mostly questions. I want to find where it broke rather than re-explain what your teacher has already explained once.
After that we work through problems rather than notes. I will write out the method in full, then ask you to talk me through the next one. Explaining it back is the quickest way to find out whether it has actually stuck, and it is also what the exam rewards: a lot of marks go missing on working that was right but never shown.
I am patient and I genuinely do not mind being asked the same thing three times. If something is not making sense, that is useful information rather than a problem.
