Second-year UCL undergraduate teachning GCSE and A-level Mathematics online and in-person within London

Hi! I’m Arnav, an Economics student at UCL offering GCSE and A-level Maths tuition in London and online.

My teaching style is friendly, patient and tailored to the individual student. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions and being honest when something does not make sense. I like to break difficult topics into clear, manageable steps and focus on building genuine understanding rather than simply memorising methods. I also like to regularly test students on their understanding and encourage them to try their best and not worry about getting it wrong - making mistakes is part of the process!

Lessons can be adapted to each student’s goals, whether they want to strengthen weaker topics, improve their confidence, develop their problem-solving skills, prepare for an upcoming exam or aim for the highest grades. I also place a strong emphasis on exam technique, recognising common question types and avoiding frequent mistakes.

A bit more about my educational background: I am currently studying Economics at University College London and achieved A*s in both Mathematics and Further Mathematics at A-level. I also qualified for the British Mathematical Olympiad twice, giving me a strong foundation in mathematical reasoning and problem-solving.

I have experience providing one-to-one support through tutoring and chess coaching. This has involved identifying areas where a student is struggling, explaining difficult ideas in different ways, working through examples together and gradually helping the student become more independent.

My coaching experience has taught me how to adapt my communication to different ages, abilities and learning styles. I use a patient and encouraging approach, while also providing structure, clear feedback and appropriately challenging practice.

I am available to tutor GCSE and A-level Maths students, both online and in person within London.
