Qualified Mathematics teacher offering clear, patient, structured lessons for KS3–A Level and Functional Skills learners, building

I am a qualified Mathematics teacher with experience teaching KS3, GCSE, A Level and Functional Skills Mathematics. I have worked with learners of different abilities, confidence levels and learning needs, including students with SEND. I have also supported adult learners returning to Mathematics, so I understand that confidence can be just as important as subject knowledge. My strengths are explaining difficult topics clearly, identifying gaps in understanding and adapting my teaching to suit the individual learner. I have experience creating my own resources, assessments and revision materials, as well as using assessment results to decide what a student needs to work on next. My lessons will be structured around the learner’s goals. I will usually begin by checking their current understanding and identifying any gaps that may be holding them back. I will then explain the topic step by step, using worked examples and different approaches where needed. I encourage students to ask questions and will never rush them through something they do not understand. Once a student is comfortable with the method, we will practise questions together before they attempt problems more independently. For students preparing for examinations, I will also use exam-style questions to develop confidence, accuracy and exam technique. I believe students make the most progress when they understand why a method works rather than simply memorising steps. My aim is therefore to help learners become confident, independent problem-solvers who can apply their knowledge to unfamiliar questions. Lessons will be adapted according to progress, and I will regularly revisit previous topics to strengthen retention and make sure earlier learning has not been forgotten.
