Advert description
I'm DfE-certified in Understanding Child Development and the EYFS, and I bring that grounding in how children learn at different ages into every session.
My background isn't traditional teaching; it's four years of working closely with children's learning in other ways: building a 1,500+ member community focused on children's literacy, ghostwriting and editing more than six children's books (which meant learning to explain things at exactly the level a child could follow), and training as a lawyer, which taught me to break down complicated ideas clearly and stay calm when someone is frustrated.
For homework and study support, I lead with patience: making sure a child feels safe asking a question twice, or five times, without feeling behind. I like to understand how a specific child thinks before deciding how to explain something, because the same maths problem needs different approaches for different learners.
I'll help with the homework in front of us, but I'm just as interested in building study habits that last; encouraging a child to try a problem themselves before I step in, and naming small wins so they start trusting their own thinking.
