Advert description
I have just finished my first year at the University of Oxford where I study for a 4-year MEng course in General Engineering. After getting 12 grade 9s at GCSE, I studied Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry A-levels and achieved 4A*s (with 100% and 99% in chemistry papers 1 and 2). I was also awarded the school’s sixth form science scholarship as well as an art scholarship from year 7 to sixth form. I am confident of the knowledge and understanding expected from students to aim for high outcomes across the range of scientific subjects. I will share the techniques and revision skills which enabled me to succeed in exams as well as gaining a place at Oxbridge. I offer my services for tutoring GCSE and A-level Maths, Physics and Chemistry, having had several years of experience helping younger students through a mentoring scheme, and as an online tutor for a charitable organisation. Help with preparing and writing personal statements for Engineering Oxbridge Admissions is also something I do.
It gives me joy to see my students ‘click’ with a topic they had been struggling with and progress with their understanding. My approach is one which aims to prioritise understanding of the foundations in parallel with practice to effectively learn to apply knowledge whilst also grasping a sense of what is required by the exam board. People generally describe me as patient and a perfectionist, which ensures in-depth breakdown of the topic or problem at hand and no brushing over details. My artistic background and creativity enable me to find new ways of illustrating concepts to students, especially if they didn’t understand something initially. Since no two students are the same, this enables me to think of tailored explanations for each individual.
