Fun, engaging English Lit/Lang lessons delivered by tutor with background in freelance writing. Feel free to get in touch so we can discuss your interests - I would love to hear from you!
MY EXPERIENCE:
- Seven years providing one-to-one tuition, working privately and through some of the UK's most respected tutoring agencies
- Texts I've taught include: An Inspector Calls, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, A Christmas Carol, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and A View from the Bridge, amongst many others
- GCSE/A Level marking services for exam boards such as OCR and AQA - use familiarity with mark scheme requirements, past papers and effective exam technique to inform my tutoring work
- BA degree: English (high 2:1), University of Bristol [2019]
- Received extensive safeguarding training when working in a developmental disability centre [2018]
- Level 3 Youth Work Diploma - CPD accredited course on facilitating young peoples' personal and educational development [2020]
MY APPROACH:
- Balancing meeting pre-planned lesson targets with a more relaxed approach than traditional classroom teaching; I've found that having fun with my students not only makes our time together more enjoyable, but also maximises engagement and productivity
- Selecting and modifying resources in line with students' individual requirements
- Developing an understanding of each unique student and adapting my teaching style accordingly
RESULTS:
- Of my 2024 GCSE and A Level intake, over 80% achieved grades 7 - 9
- Track record of students' success in highly competitive entrance processes, including for: St Paul's Girls School, Godolphin and Latymer, and The University of Bristol
