Online Chess Lessons. All leves and ages. FIDE Trainer

Advert description
Hi! my name is Matías Ianovsky. I am a professional Chess coach.

Certified as FIDE Trainer (FT), which is the highest trainer title delivered by the International Chess Federation, FIDE Candidate Master (CM), FIDE School Instructor (FSI) and Docente de Ajedrez by FEDA (Spain Chess Federation), I have been teaching Chess for almost 20 years in schools, chess clubs and private lessons. My ELO FIDE is 2218.

I have students in Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, England, Germany, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Poland, Spain, Sweden and the United States.
I am a certified coach on the online platforms Chess and Lichess.

-The Lessons:
After 20 years of teaching chess to a wide range of people from all ages and levels I concluded that progress in chess has three pillars: Train, Analyze and Play. That is the general structure of my lessons: TAP, Train, Analyze and Play. However, in addition to the structure, there is a more specific element: my classes are always, always! personalized. The content, pace, methods and training material is adapted to your skills and goals in relation to chess.

The lessons are challenging and entertaining, you will have to find creative solutions to different scenarios. Depending on your level and aims we will work over a vast array of subjects : Calculation, Tactics, Theoretical endgames, Positional play, Dynamics, Openings, Pawns structures, Planning, Blindfold training, Swindles, Pattern recognition, among others.

Besides we are going to address more specific topics, to name a few: intuition versus calculation, time administration, building an opening repertoire, practical utility of artistic problems, making a good use of chess engines and databases, psychological aspects of the decision making process.

After every lesson I send homework about the content we are studying (Puzzles, Games, Videos, BooksDatabases, among others).

I think that a plus of my classes is that I keep permanent contact with my students, they can ask me or comment anything about chess outside the lesson time.
My main goal as a coach is not only to help my students to improve their level but also to make them have a good time. The lesson must be full of content, entertaining and challenging at the same time. For me that is an imperative.

I invite you to learn chess together!

I've taken lessons from over a dozen chess coaches over the years: grandmasters, masters, and experts, and Matías is one of the best. He is meticulous, organized, and thoughtful, which means you get the most out of every lesson with him (and the time in between, if you want!). And he makes each lesson fun and engaging both through his welcoming personality and an effective mix of puzzles, games, and exercises to ensure variety. I already see my chess getting better from lessons with Matías after just a few sessions. Trust me, you don't want to miss out on lessons with Matías!

Matias is an incredible chess coach. Every lesson is meticulously well-thought out and designed to both build a strong foundation in fundamental chess principles and address my specific weaknesses and development areas. The lessons build on and complement one another as well. Not only are his chess lessons highly informative and productive, they’re also fun. Historical examples are usually the basis for his lessons; we’ve studied games ranging from the top players in modern chess to funny, but instructive casual games played between grandmasters and amateurs. Throughout the games, he asks great questions like “the intuitive move is x, but that’s a huge blunder, why?” He teaches you to think about chess the right way. Matias not only understands the best / most effective lines, he also understands the context of the games— the moment in history in which the game occurred, where the players were in their careers, and insight into what they were thinking at the time. He’s also hi
