I am a native British English speaker. With 20 years' experience, I tutor online and in person in and around Cologne, Germany

In my courses, I love to create a safe and fun space where my students feel free to take risks, make mistakes and laugh. You could call me a 'coach' rather than a 'teacher'. Self-confidence comes first.

Before anything, however, I take time to find out what your specific needs are, and work with you to define your goals. That gives us a concrete plan, so that you can track your progress and feel yourself improving.

I am a certified (CELTA) English teacher. Since my first group of students in 2005, I have helped business people, creatives and school and university students, to name but a few. I have taught students all the way from A1 to C2, and am experienced in teaching a range of exam courses (IELTS, CAE, FCE etc.).

I also run academic writing and presentation skills workshops for phd candidates in universities across Germany and beyond.

As far as my academic background is concerned, I have a BSc in Psychology, a Masters in Philosophy and another Masters in Creative Writing. I draw on this multidisciplinary skillset, as well as my love of theatre and literature, when I tailor my courses for my students' needs.
