Advert description
Hi, my name is Yuqi. In Chinese, it would be the name of a tree and a river.
Before fully delving into language tutoring, I trained actors with their understanding and deliverance of Chinese text professionally for theatre stages. I also give writing lessons to university students and have been writing and publishing all along. Gradually I realised more and more my joy when seeing people improving. Hence I started to give proper Mandarin lessons about 3 years ago.
Now I have taught more than 200 students and I am very proud to say that they have all found new perspectives for Chinese language and culture. My students range from professional geopolitical analysis to international business manager. I love helping people to not only learn Chinese but also dive deep into it to be able to feel its incredible beauty.
I lead a free flowing method of teaching and tailor everything to my students' needs.
With a background in theatre directing, one thing I guarantee is that you never need to worry about the lesson getting boring. Engagement is and always will be my first priority. The lesson will not be dull or too "textbook".
I design every lesson around my student because everyone finds their own way to learn. If you’re a visual learner, we’ll work with pictures; if you thrive on speaking, we’ll jump into plenty of conversations. Prefer listening? I’ll curate podcasts that suit your level. And if you’re a kinaesthetic learner, I’ll guide you through writing Chinese characters 汉字 hands-on.
I will always design a lesson plan together with you that gets to your target faster than you expect. You’ll receive handouts or relevant materials before each lesson, and I’ll take notes for you during class and send them afterwards. When helpful, I’ll set interesting homework. I keep track of everything and revise frequently, so we never lose what we’ve gained as we move forward.
