Advert description
I'm a First-Class jazz graduate from Leeds Conservatoire and a Grade 8 electric guitarist with 16 years of playing experience. Music has been my whole world for as long as I can remember, and these days I split my time between performing, producing, and teaching.
I currently co-lead Murgatroyd, a jazz fusion band blending jazz improvisation with jungle, drum and bass, grime, hip-hop and neo soul. I've performed at festivals including We Out Here and was shortlisted for Cross the Tracks. That mix of rigorous jazz training and contemporary genre-hopping shapes how I teach: I want students to build solid technical foundations while still feeling free to experiment and find their own sound.
I teach guitar (electric and acoustic), music theory, DJing, and music production, and I work with everyone from complete beginners through to advanced players. No two students learn the same way, so no two lesson plans look the same — I tailor everything to individual goals, whether that's nailing jazz harmony and ear training, getting comfortable improvising for the first time, or producing a first track in Logic Pro.
A few things I care about most as a teacher:
Confidence first — I build lessons around structured, encouraging feedback so students feel good about their progress, not judged by it.
Creativity from day one — even beginners get room to write, improvise, and put their own spin on things. I don't believe creativity is something you "graduate into."
Versatility — whether you're into rock, blues, jazz, hip-hop, or electronic production, I can meet you where your musical interests actually are.
Whether you're picking up a guitar for the first time or sharpening advanced jazz technique, I'll build a plan around you and make sure it's genuinely enjoyable along the way.
