In my experience I’ve always come across students asking me if whatever topic they’re learning in maths would be useful for their future and if there’s any point of learning them. In my experience I’ve always come across students asking me if whatever topic they’re learning in maths would be useful for their future and if there’s any point of learning them. So my approach in teaching is always to give examples of the applications or use cases of the related maths topic, before going through the theory.
I believe this way they would be more motivated to learn the topic. My students response to that method of teaching was always positive in the past.
Furthermore, I always tell my students that “I’m here to help or guide you, not to judge you” . I’ve built this trust between my students and myself, as a result they never hesitated to ask questions and were more comfortable.
