Fun, creative and enthusiastic Spanish tutor

Advert description
¡Hola a todos/as! My name is Nina. I have a passion for Spanish that developed during my 22 years studying the language. Academically, I graduated summa cum laude from Bates College with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. I have been living in Lima, Peru for the past six years and also studied abroad here for a year in college, which has allowed me to fully immerse myself in the language. Apart from that, I have traveled to Panama, Costa Rica, Chile, Ecuador, Colombia, and Spain.

With regards to my skills tutoring, I have tutored Spanish to students of various levels and ages (from a second grader to adult learners), creating individualized strategies and lesson plans to fit each one's particular needs. Furthermore, I worked for a year as a bilingual teacher's assistant in a third-grade classroom. Working with students in small groups and one-on-one has given me the invaluable teaching skills that I would utilize as your tutor. Moreover, I love helping others. I am good at thinking of multiple ways to explain concepts if someone does not understand my initial explanation. I myself need to ask lots of questions when I am learning new material, so I fully encourage questions from others. I am also a fun, enthusiastic, and creative tutor.

Besides my experience tutoring Spanish, I also have a background in translation, transcription, interpreting, and language editing. I have worked as a freelance Spanish translator since January 2013. My translations have included various IEPs and other educational materials, affidavits of domestic abuse victims, and a cookbook for homeless individuals in shelters. In addition, I worked for a year as a community interpreter with a focus on school settings, for such purposes as IEP meetings and student cognitive evaluations.

I am currently only giving virtual lessons. I would love to share my passion for Spanish as your tutor! I look forward to hearing from you. ¡Saludos!
