Friendly, patient Cognitive Neuroscience and Psychology graduate offering tutoring in both primary and secondary education.

Advert description
I am a Neuroscience and Psychology graduate and currently work as a SEN Teaching Assistant, alongside working as a private tutor. I am passionate about education and particularly enjoy helping students build confidence in subjects they may initially find challenging. I currently provide private tutoring for KS2 students, giving me hands-on experience supporting children with their learning, adapting explanations to their individual needs and helping them develop both their knowledge and confidence. My approach is patient, encouraging and personalised, as I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I specialise in Maths and English at primary level, supporting students with areas such as core numeracy, problem-solving, reading, writing, grammar and comprehension. I can tailor lessons around the student's current level, whether they need additional support with particular topics, want to consolidate what they are learning in school, or are preparing for SATs and other assessments. At secondary level, I can also offer tutoring in Psychology and Biology, extending to A-Level standard. My Neuroscience and Psychology degree has given me a strong scientific understanding of these subjects, as well as experience with research, statistics and academic writing. My experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant has also strengthened my ability to adapt my communication and teaching style to different learners. I understand that every student learns differently, and I aim to identify what works best for each individual rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. I am particularly comfortable supporting students who may need concepts broken down into smaller, more manageable steps or who benefit from additional encouragement and repetition. Ultimately, my aim is not simply to help students achieve better grades, but to help them understand what they are learning, become more independent and develop confidence in their own abilities. I want lessons to feel supportive and engaging while still being structured and focused on clear progress. Whether your child needs help catching up, consolidating schoolwork, preparing for exams, or simply wants to feel more confident in a particular subject, I am happy to tailor lessons around their individual goals and needs.
