The first lesson isn't about grammar drills — it's about getting to know each other. I ask what my student wants from English: exam prep, everyday conversation, more confidence at work, or feeling less embarrassed about mistakes. Once I know their goals, level, and interests, I build a plan around that person, not a fixed script. My path into English came through years studying and working entirely in it — presenting design concepts to international clients, negotiating with suppliers, writing clear, persuasive reports. That real-world use is what I bring to lessons. Students practise English they'll actually need: emails, natural conversation, explaining ideas under pressure, sounding confident in interviews. Grammar still matters, but always tied to something usable immediately. I'm a patient teacher by nature. Mistakes are part of learning, and I make sure students feel comfortable getting things wrong with me — often the biggest barrier for learners, especially adults. I correct gently and explain the "why," not just the "what." I also notice how each person learns best: some want structure and notes, others learn through conversation, others through visuals. From my design background, I turn complicated ideas into simple, clear formats — diagrams, examples, step-by-step explanations — and bring that clarity into teaching English. A lesson isn't just me talking. I mix guided conversation on topics the student cares about, short listening or reading practice, targeted grammar or vocabulary, and role-play for real situations like calls, meetings, or errands. Younger or exam-focused students get structured practice and homework, with honest feedback. Adults focused on confidence or workplace English get more conversation, pronunciation, and practical writing. I track progress so we build on what came before. I'm based in London but happy to teach anywhere in the UK, in person or online, with a flexible schedule. Having lived and studied between India and the UK, working with people from many backgrounds, I adapt how I communicate to whoever I'm speaking with — I don't assume one explanation works for everyone. My goal is for students to leave each lesson having used more English than they thought they could, and to see real progress over time. I want lessons to feel encouraging, not stressful, so students actually enjoy getting better.
