Engaging Maths Tutor! Qualified teacher

Hello!

I'm Georgie—a qualified primary school teacher with three years of classroom experience teaching Year 1 and Year 3. Since leaving full-time teaching in 2020, I’ve worked as a private tutor and supported families with home schooling during the pandemic. I’ve tutored a wide range of primary-aged children, from Year 1 up to Year 6, including SATs preparation.

I’m incredibly passionate about working with children and helping them achieve their full potential. In our first sessions, I focus on getting to know your child—making sure they feel safe, supported, and confident. I set clear expectations from the start, such as encouraging open communication and ensuring children feel comfortable asking questions when they’re unsure.

Tutoring sessions are either one hour focused on a single subject, or split into two half-hour blocks covering different subjects. I plan each session using PowerPoint slides and tailor my approach to suit your child’s learning style, using engaging and personalised techniques to keep them motivated. I use assessment throughout, and usually at the end of half terms will complete a more formal assessment, and ensure parents are up to date with progress and new target areas.

My sessions are fun, fast-paced, and interactive. We usually begin with a quick-fire recap of previous learning, then move on to a new topic or skill, which becomes the main focus for the rest of the session.
