We start with a general, brief conversation to establish the potential and competence of the student, moving on to analysis involving more detailed grammatical- exercises, including written ability. Listening, together, to brief discussions / arguments involving two or more native speakers provides the student with useful insight into the nature of verbal exchange between individuals of reasonable intelligence exchanging ideas and points of view in English. The student is asked to comment at the end, providing his / her perspective on the content s/he has just heard and is encouraged to criticise the arguments presented by the speakers. 'Homework' involves doing this alone, by listening to radio conversations and summarising with their written thoughts which they will be asked to present to me at the start of the following lesson. Stimulation of their thoughts about native English speakers and how they might have argued differently has been the foundation of my lessons to all ages other than young children, especially to corporate students who want to develop conversational- to proficient English in their work environment. We can enjoy these exercises together as regularly as required, the students I've worked with who have chosen more frequent sessions together have moved on extremely impressively, in most cases. I am looking forward very much to meeting those who are keen to improve their English and at the same time are looking to experience shared enjoyment in doing so. I'm based in London and am as happy giving the lessons online as I am face-to-face.
