Advert description
Are you or your child struggling with science concepts, preparing for GCSEs or A-Levels, or looking to boost confidence in Biology or Chemistry? I’m here to help. With over 15 years of experience teaching science across KS3, GCSE, and A-Level, I specialise in providing personalised, engaging, and results-focused tutoring that makes science clear, exciting, and achievable.
I’ve worked with hundreds of students across exam boards including AQA, Edexcel, and OCR, helping them navigate topics like cell biology, organic chemistry, genetics, and quantitative chemistry. My students range from those aiming for top grades to those who need to rebuild their confidence and understanding. Many have gone on to exceed their predicted grades and develop a genuine passion for the subject.
What Makes My Tutoring Different?
My approach is student-centred, meaning every session is tailored to how you learn best. Whether you're a visual learner who benefits from diagrams and animations, or someone who learns through practice and repetition, I adapt to your needs.
For example, I’ve helped students grasp complex topics like protein synthesis by turning it into a story-telling exercise, or understand moles and titrations through interactive problem-solving and real-life analogies (like recipes and baking measurements!). I also use exam-board-specific question banks, active recall techniques, and spaced repetition to reinforce knowledge and ensure long-term retention.
Exam Preparation & Strategy
Success in science isn’t just about knowing the content—it’s about knowing how to apply it in exams. I place a strong focus on exam technique:
Breaking down mark schemes so students understand what examiners are looking for.
Teaching how to structure extended response answers using command words like "describe," "explain," and "evaluate".
Practising past paper questions under timed conditions to build confidence and speed.
Regular diagnostic assessments to identify gaps and track progress over time.
Many students find science overwhelming due to the volume of content. That’s why I also teach smart revision techniques—mind mapping, flashcards, mini whiteboard quizzes, and “teach-back” methods—so students learn actively, not passively.
