I find that the challenge of studying any language is how formal tests and real life use seem to be two completely unrelated fields. Thanks to learning the language both "the technical way" for certificates and living for 10 years in Ireland, I can blend the best of both worlds, explaining the complexities of English grammar without making students afraid to communicate. As I currently study third language myself, the challenges of language learning are always fresh in my mind! ;)
