i am a fully qualified teacher and Cambridge graduate who has taught in the state and private sector. I specialise in 11+ Mathematics preparation and have successfully helped over 100 children to be awarded a place at the country's top day and boarding schools.

My approach to tutoring is bespoke, ensuring I am teaching what your child needs - no two lessons will be the same.

In order to succeed at 11+, a child needs a high level of fluency and problem solving skills. Through tutoring, I can make sure there is a solid foundation in number, plugging any gaps from their primary education. This is achieved through fluency and varied fluency tasks. Although not in the curriculum by name until y^, we will focus on developing algebraic thinking to save time in exams and unlock certain question types. Once a solid foundation has been built, we can work to apply this knowledge to abstract, problem solving tasks (ususually found towards the back of a paper).

Closer to the exam, we will focus on fine tuning and exam technique. This allows your child to learn how to manage time and it's impact on accuracy.

In saying all of the above, I am aware that a happy, confident child does better in exams. throughout my sessions I ensure that children build confidence in the subject so they walk into exams ready to achieve!
