The first thing I focus on is building trust by creating a space where students feel safe asking questions and making mistakes. I want them to know that I’m not here to judge — I’m here to help. I always listen first: I ask them where they’re struggling, what they’re confident in, and how they like to learn. That tells me how to support them best. From there, I break things down in a clear, step-by-step way, checking in often to make sure they’re following. If something doesn’t click, I rephrase it or try a different approach — because not every student learns the same way. I use simple examples, real-life connections, and practice problems to build confidence and understanding. My goal isn’t just to help them pass a test — it’s to help them feel capable and independent. I want every student to walk away thinking, ‘I can do this.’ That mindset shift is powerful, and that’s what I’m here to build.
