Friendly and patient tutor who would love to teach kids who are struggling in the subject as I once did too

I'm currently studying mechanical engineering at university, so I am confident in my mathematical ability. In the past I have tutored my friends and asked, by my peers, to cover lessons when the teacher would be absent. I love working with kids and have coached them in volleyball and other sporting activities so I would truly enjoy combining my skills to help a child's confidence academically.
I understand the complex emotions of children concerning mathematics, I struggled in primary school and I sympathise with students who face such anxieties. It can be very frustrating to feel left behind and I would love to support children the way that my tutor supported me.

I believe that the fundamentals are the most important part of mathematics, so I would focus primarily on this. Once the child grasps these concepts I would then move onto practice papers as they are the fastest way to achieve better grades and this would also increase the child's confidence in exams.

In my first lesson I would ask for a brief overview of what they would like to be taught/ what their goals are as well as the syllabus for the year. Please have this ready as it would ensure we could start right away.
