Advert description
Hi! My names Chloe Thorpe-Young, and I’ve been teaching piano full time since I graduated from the University of Chichester 9 years ago with a degree in Music and Teaching.
I’ve had so much fun teaching over the years, and the only reason I’m pupil hunting now is because the mass of 8/9 year old pupils I took on years ago are all grown up and moving on!
For my young pupils, I have a variety of education games to break up the ‘sensible’ parts of the lesson and keep things fun. We learn all sorts of pieces, and I often try to incorporate music the kids already enjoy.
For adults, our lessons would be relaxed, calm, and tailored to move at your pace. Adult learners can often be worried about making mistakes, or not moving quickly enough. Rest assured, mistakes are marvellous ways to learn, and learning the piano is hard! No judgements from me.
Practice wise, I’ll not be the traditional dragon breathing down your neck. Adults know that you get out what you put in; if you only have a little time then we’ll take the slow road together. For children, I aim to inspire practice through enthusiasm (parents can help with this by being equally enthusiastic!)
We can take the exam route (which is useful to keep you on track) or we can learn entirely for fun. I also teach music theory for overall understanding. My main aim is to one day teach myself out of a job, and instil a lifelong love of music into my pupils.
Look forward to hearing from you!
Chloe 😊
