Over 17 years of ESL teaching experience in China, working with learners of all ages and levels, which developed my ability to explain language concepts clearly and adapt to different learning needs.
Qualified English teacher with a CELTA, a BA in Education (English Department), and two Master’s degrees in Applied Linguistics and TESOL (University of Leicester and The Open University, UK).
Recently obtained GCSE English qualification, which enhances my understanding of the current curriculum, exam expectations, and the key skills required for student success at this level.
Current experience tutoring British students:
Key Stage 1 student with ADHD, supporting English and Mathematics through structured, engaging, and supportive sessions.
Key Stage 3 autistic student, delivering tailored English lessons with a focus on comprehension, expressive writing, and confidence-building.
Experienced in SEN support, with a strong foundation in strategies for working with students with ADHD, autism, and learning difficulties—ensuring lessons are inclusive, accessible, and personalised.
Strong classroom and 1:1 teaching skills, with the ability to build rapport, manage behaviour positively, and keep students motivated and focused.
Skilled in differentiated instruction, scaffolding, and using visual, audio, and kinesthetic approaches to make learning engaging and effective for all types of learners.
Culturally responsive and empathetic, with experience supporting both EAL learners and native English speakers from diverse backgrounds.
