Advert description
For my teacher training, I have already had the pleasure of working at Horsforth School teaching KS3+4 classes and for my second placement, I am currently working at St John Fisher’s Catholic School in Harrogate.
Through my training, I have become familiar with the national curriculum and have experience teaching such topics on the syllabus to an adequate standard. By producing starters and plenaries during my online lessons, I have been able to check if objectives are being met while also helping to store key concepts in students' working memory, thereby helping to cement learning. My training has also made me become more experienced at using multiple online platforms such as Teams and would be prepared to help assist my students with such software. I am also familiar with using Word and PowerPoint to create suitable resources that will help facilitate learning. As I have mentioned earlier. Formative assessment is imperative in enforcing understanding within pupils. So, when planning lessons, I would ensure that I include opportunities for checking AFL. In the past, I have incorporated whiteboard activities and quizzes into my lessons to see for myself who understands and who would need that extra support. I also believe in the importance of end-of-topic assessments in checking understanding. Having created my own assessment as part of my ITAP, I have had the experience of marking work and recording student grades thereby giving me the chance to know my students better
I think one of the most successful lessons I taught was to a Y7 class. To explain a river's profile, I would provide a video, a task, and text on PowerPoint slides to support audial, kinaesthetic, and visual learners. Through relaying the same information in numerous formats, I was able to meet multiple needs. At the end of the session, I conducted a plenary. This plenary asked them to categorise statements. From circulating the class, I could see that all were getting the right answers which told me that my lesson had enforced understanding well.
I am excited to showcase the skills I have learned throughout the duration of my placement. I hope to make a positive impact on children’s lives and help guide them to success. I wish to contribute to a consultancy that truly cares for its students and thereby ask that you consider me when choosing a potential candidate for this role
